Concentration Moon
(f. zappa)

(We're Only In It For The Money
Playground Psychotics)

Concentration Moon
Over the camp in the valley
Concentration Moon
Wish I was back in the alley
With all of my friends,
Still running free:
Hair growing out
Every hole in me
AMERICAN WAY
How did it start?
Thousands of creeps
Killed in the park
AMERICAN WAY
Try and explain
Scab of a nation
Driven insane
Don't cry
Gotta go bye bye
SUDDENLY: DIE DIE
COP KILL A CREEP! pow pow pow

Gary Kellgren: Tomorrow I get to do another Frank Zappa creation . . . and the day after that . . . and the day after that . . . also at the same time I get to work with The Velvet Underground which is as shitty a group as Frank Zappa's group

JCB: Hi, boys & girls, I'm Jimmy Carl Black, and I'm the Indian of the group

Concentration Moon
Over the camp in the valley
Concentration Moon
Wish I was back in the alley
With all of my friends,
Still running free:
Hair growing out
Every hole in me
AMERICAN WAY
Threatened by US
Drag a few creeps
Away in a bus
AMERICAN WAY
Prisoner: lock
SMASH EVERY CREEP
IN THE FACE WITH A ROCK

Don't cry
Gotta go bye bye
SUDDENLY: DIE DIE
COP KILL A CREEP! pow pow pow

well, i did my trip to the dental hell factory and maybe things arent as bad as i'd imagined, though still bad enough. cost me a hundred fucking dollars just for the 'consultation' and i must wait until next wednesday for to meet the other dentist who will do the work i guess....seems to be a good chance to save the teeth and thus avoid having a pair of plaster choppers, which i dread. i wish i could write to you and tell you that i'd at last, finally, overcome at least this much of my fears to go to the place and do what must be done. when i thought of that poor fucker who cut his own arm off, and compared that sort of courage to my own cowardice in the face of something as small and common place as this, well i felt pretty stupid. anyway, i go back there at 8:15 wednesday and we shall see what we shall see. oh and i even got a subscription for some vicodin, which is always welcome! though i dont seem to need it now, its better to have and not need than the alternative of need without having.

still waitin to call the DENTIST. ugh. i wanna die....

here's something that sums it all up for me, an old song of my youth that was popular then....simon & garfunkle may be little cheezy, but 'even a blind pig finds an acorn'

A winter's day
In a deep and dark December;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

Don't talk of love,
But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

life sure has a way of throwing ironic shit ones way. yeah, i got your letter. i wont write anymore. i dont mean to be an asshole and cling to you. i am in a very bad spot. ya know, while i was reading your letter, ANOTHER tooth fell out. or part of one, anyway. god i wanted to talk with you then. i finally determined last night that i would go to the place i fear (dentists) and have this shit taken care of. i wanted to wait until i got my money from the 'early retirement' thing, but it seems i can wait no longer. i was unable to eat last night, so actually, i havent eaten a thing since wednesday. (since i usually dont eat breakfast or lunch). i am sitting here with part of my decayed broken tooth on my desk, it's 6:30 in the AM and i'm just kinda waiting around until i can call a dentist and have this shit looked at. i think i'm well and truly fucked. i hope that it's not as bad as i fear. i always fear the worst anyway, at least when you expect the worst, you're never really disappointed that way. it was good to know that you at least dont harbor feelings of hatred for me. the fact that you feel 'sorry' for me is almost as galling though. i went to bed at 9:30 last night because i didnt feel too much like anything and i just needed peace and quiet to deal with my situation. this whole thing with my teeth and jaw is really, i think, the cause of a lot of my erratic behavior. it's gotten very much worse since last october when i first let you know about my situation. i wish, for a number of reasons - not least of which that i might have been better able to communicate with you and less erratic and crazy - that i had taken care of this years ago. oh well, as moms used to say to me: "wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which weighs more." mom was quite practical, mom was. so now it's still 6:30 and i have this hole where a tooth used to be or something. it feels very strange and i cant even begin to describe it. i didnt even watch the moon last night, 'cause i was in no mood. i talked with my pops and he realises now why i no longer go out and such (has to do with my tooth situation, yes?) and he understands me better now. see, cause in the old days, i used to go with my pops to a lot of these blues festivals (why, i took him to the first blues show that he'd gone to in YEARS back in 1990 or 91, after he had his stroke). when i get this shit taken care of, i will maybe be able to live my life again. i just wish i had done it earlier so that the life i lived would have included you.

ugh, at night, while i try to sleep, i grind my teeth and where they're fucked up, well it's not helping any. my fear of the dentist has finally been outweighed by my fear of....STARVATION hahaha....well, i doubt if you read this anyway, but if you do, you know now what's going on....

woke up again, thinking about you. damn. another cold grey day....

How can I tell you that I love you, I love you
but I can't think of right words to say
I long to tell you that I'm always thinking of you
I'm always thinking of you, but my words
just blow away, just blow away
It always ends up to one thing, honey
and I can't think of right words to say
Wherever I am girl, I'm always walking with you
I'm always walking with you, but I look and you're not there
Whoever I'm with, I'm always, always talking to you
I'm always talking to you, and I'm sad that
you can't hear, sad that you can't hear
It always ends up to one thing, honey,
when I look and you're not there
I need to know you, need to feel my arms around you
feel my arms around you, like a sea around a shore
and -- each night and day I pray, in hope
that I might find you, in hope that I might
find you, because heart's can do no more
It always ends up to one thing honey, still I kneel upon the floor
How can I tell you that I love you, I love you
but I can't think of right words to say
I long to tell you that I'm always thinking of you
I'm always thinking of you....
It always ends up to one thing honey
and I can't think of right words to say

had to restrain myself from sending this to you via sms.

"It went right by me
Just another wall
There should have been a moment
When we let our barriers fall
I never meant what you're thinking...
That's not what I meant at all.

Well I guess we all have these feelings
We can't leave unreconciled
Some of them burned on our ceilings
Some of them learned as a child"

('s what i was listening to)

but you probably wouldnt have read it anyway

WHAT'S THE UGLIEST PART OF YOUR BODY?

What's the ugliest
Part of your body?
What's the ugliest
Part of your body?
Some say your nose
Some say your toes
But I think it's
YOUR MIND
I think it's your mind, woo woo
ALL YOUR CHILDREN ARE POOR
UNFORTUNATE VICTIMS OF
SYSTEMS BEYOND THEIR
CONTROL
A PLAGUE UPON YOUR
IGNORANCE & THE GRAY
DESPAIR OF YOUR UGLY LIFE
Where did Annie go
Whe she went to town?
Who are all those creeps
That she brings around?
ALL YOUR CHILDREN ARE POOR
UNFORTUNATE VICTIMS OF LIES
YOU BELIEVE
A PLAGUE UPON YOUR
IGNORANCE THAT KEEPS
THE YOUNG FROM THE TRUTH
THEY DESERVE...

well, i gathered up all the postcards you sent me, along with the book ('die verboten warheit') and the little black sheep ('sven') and have it all together lying on my bed, ready to send back across the pond to you. i want nothing here to remind me of you. it's what i call 'the great purging' - where i purge my life of any memories of you. i had thought briefly of burning it all, as that might be a cathartic experience, but then i'd have to go down and buy lighter fluid and walk to the bay and then with my luck ('luck o' the irish!') i'd wind up getting busted by some PIG for lighting a fire on this swampy marshland and have to pay an enormous fine, and besides, i have a very strong negative reaction to the idea of burning a book - it seems too barbaric for words even. i still may burn the post cards, as they will burn rather nicely, and i can probably do that without the lighter-fluid over in the parking lot near my place. the little black sheep keychain might really make a good fire too. i thought briefly of giving the book to my co-worker Claus who's from there and can read this barbaric tongue. me, i gave up on it. i agree with mark twain's thoughts on the "awful german language."

http://eserver.org/langs/the-awful-german-language.txt

once, shortly before you vanished, you made the statement that 'america has no culture.' which is utter and complete bullshit, which i called you on, at the time. i was immensely shocked to see you taking such a social chauvinist attitude towards an entire culture and society based on the insane actions of its ruling class (bush et al). the funny thing was, i'd heard the same rhetoric about the supposed 'lack' of culture in america from the nazi elements such as the NPD and action francaise and the rest of the neo fascist movements of europa. very very funny, considering you listen to and even dance to OUR musical forms at your little discos where you do your one-night-stands. if your culture is so superior, why arent you dancing to folk songs at the discos instead of anything modern? you think europeans invented jazz, rock n' roll and the other musical forms that derive from these? hardly. what a joke. you seemed to be one of these people who are easily influenced by the 'opinion forming' corporate mass media, which in your country, is virulently 'anti-american' because it happens to serve your own bourgeoise's interests at this time, in their attempt to assert themselves as imperialists, upon the world stage. i rememberd that you had once offered to show me around the land, you know, as friend cum tourist guide. so the thought occurred to me, that you could show me all the nice little kamps set up at places like sachsenhausen - monuments of european culture! i mean, what a joke. i would never SERIOUSLY equate the death kamps of europe with 'culture' (or the lack thereof), but since you seem to equate american imperialism under bush with a supposed 'lack of culture' (as if 'culture' ever made a difference to imperialists - hell, the romans had pelnty of 'culture' but that didnt stop 'em from their drive to conquest. the germans had, arguably, a very high culture, but that didnt stop 'em from degenerating in only one generation into a nation of bloodthirsty barbarians bent on total world domination (they called it 'drang nach ost' and 'liebensraum' but it was plain old rapine). it makes me sick to think that i ever thought you were sincere when you spoke of this 'wealth damaged' world. i should have known, and in fact did suspect, that you were full of shit, when you started to use the term 'nigger.' given enough time, i shouldnt be surprised to catch glimpses of you at the next NPD rallies, waving the imperial flag!

bah!.

i started to think last night that i am probably better off with your departure. i used to spend so much time thinking about you, and waiting to talk with you, that it became a burden to my life. with the imminent demise of my 'career', and the consequent 'early retirement' bonus, i will be going into some sort of business for myself, and i will need to focus everything of my energies in that direction, i reckon that you'd have only been a distraction. hopefully in june, i will get my greedy little paws on the loot, which should come to something around $50K after the rat bastard uncle scam takes his cut, which should leave me just enough to start up my own little 'slave mines of doom' and become a full-fledged member of the bourgeoisie in good standing. i had hoped to avoid the idea of utilizing hired labor, as i still have qualms about being a 'boss', but it seems that my good friend who we'll call 'Bob' has turned out to be "all bluster and no muster", for when i told him of my imminent wind-fall, and reminded him of his own plans to escape corpo-land for something more fulfilling, his interest was rather underwhelming. of course until i get my hands on the loot itself, it's all speculation, but i am informed that the cash bonuses are already settled, all that remains is a few negotiations between the union and mgmt. i have thought to leave this area, since i'm sick to death of all the people and the crowds and the traffic, but i have too many familial ties here and it would be impractical to leave - actually, i'm kind of tethered here, what with my penurious pops...i can hardly wait, though, to get out of this place i work at. 9 years is enough, and i'm totally sick and disgusted with this job, and can barely drag myself through the doors without a supreme effort of will. i have calculated that it will cost me roughly 20,000$ to get things off the ground, which will allow me a small cushion to withstand the early lean times of the growth period, and within a few years, i should be making quite a decent living out of this venture that i had told you of, and that you had mocked. we shall see in time. i hope to use this as a starting point or springboard to achieve what i REALLY want, which is to open a cool little brewery pub somewhere else (maybe portland someday - i really liked the city up there, and i think it'll be a cool place to live in ten years or so.

i always expected to be dead by now, so never worried much about 'the future', unfortunately (?) my expectations went unfulfilled.
but the genetics of my family seem to indicate an early death for me, and who can say what tomorrow will bring? still, it'll be nice to give something new a try, and if i can escape the world of asshole bosses, even if i make less than i am today, it'll all be worth it in my mind.

i find that listening to really loud, aggressive music (such as the band Slayer, which i liked so much as a youth back in the early 80s) helps me to deal with the (rapidly diminishing) pain of loss. it's a lot better listening to something like that, that has no emotional baggage that reminds me of you, and besides, i always did like that aggro music, i'm just too old to be slam dancing and stage diving these days.

Limewire has been a good resource for new tunes which i havent got. limewire.com

well, as they say in cartoons 't-t-th-th-that's all, folks' - i'll see you in the funny-pages!

After the Revolution
David Rovics
It was a time I'll always remember
Because I could never forget
How reality fell down around us
Like some Western movie set
And once the dust all settled
The sun shone so bright
And a great calm took over us
Like it was all gonna be alright
That's how it felt to be alive
After the revolution
From Groton to Tacoma
On many a factory floor
The workers talked of solidarity
And refused to build weapons of war
No more will we make missiles
We're gonna do something different
And for the first time
Their children were proud of their parents
And somewhere in Gaza a little boy smiled and cried
After the revolution
Prison doors swung open
And mothers hugged their sons
The Liberty Bell was ringing
When the cops put down their guns
A million innocent people
Lit up in the springtime air
And Mumia and Leonard and Sarah Jane Olson
Took a walk in Tompkins Square
And they talked about what they'd do now
After the revolution
The debts were all forgiven
In all the neo-colonies
And the soldiers left their bases
Went back to their families
And a non-aggression treaty
Was signed with every sovereign state
And all the terrorist groups disbanded
With no empire left to hate
And they all started planting olive trees
After the revolution
George Bush and Henry Kissinger
Were sent off to the World Court
Their plans for global domination
Were pre-emptively cut short
Their weapons of mass destruction
Were inspected and destroyed
The battleships were dismantled
Never again to be deployed
And the world breathed a sigh of relief
After the revolution
Solar panels were on the rooftops
Trains upon the tracks
Organic food was in the markets
No GMO's upon the racks
And all the billionaires
Had to learn how to share
And Bill Gates was told to quit his whining
When he said it wasn't fair
And his mansion became a collective farm
After the revolution
And all the political poets
Couldn't think of what to say
So they all decided
To live life for today
I spent a few years catching up
With all my friends and lovers
Sleeping til eleven
Home beneath the covers
And I learned how to play the banjo
After the revolution

(i havent yet bothered to learn the html coding to make this link work, so c&p, and

'keep on keepin' on...'

another day, another peanut. same old thing, really. the ghosts are still there, but they come even less often now. i only thought of you three or four times on the train to work, so it's getting easier to concentrate on my morning readings. havent felt much like reading anything 'new' now, which i probably should be doing, at least something different than re-reading for the xth time, '10 days that shook the world'. i read a bit of gramsci's 'the new prince' tonight, as i'd recently become aquainted with his theories of 'hegemony' and the media....

you're probably just out the door on your way to your own slavery gig as sawbones and plumber. i guess this is day 22 or 23 since you left. i'm starting to get used to the idea of your (relative) non-existance. i mean, that you're beginning to cease to exist for me in the 'real world' and only as a memory. i reckon this is all part of the pathology of the disease. you once remarked that love is a mental disorder, so you decide if 'pathology' is appropriate. when i hear certain songs, i think of you, like this one that happens to be playing just now, by david rovics, 'after the revolution'....

another day i awake and you're still in my heart.

of course, i made another futile attempt to contact you, with the usual results. i havent felt this much sense of loss since my moms died. i dont have much time this morning to write anything, since the Slave Mines of DoomÂȘ have claim to my time today - must earn my daily bread as (if not hewer of stone and wood) information zombie...

i hope to write more tonight.

one saturday in april we talked for the last time.

i didnt know at the time we were talking that these would be the last words spoken between us. if i had, there were other things i'd have said, things more meaningful, about how i cared for you, how i treasured the brief time we spent communicating our souls to each other, and how much your presence meant to me, in short - how lucky i felt to have known you.

really, we only knew each other for something less than 900 days, which amounts to roughly 15 percent of the total days ive spent on this wearysome little ball of mud we call home. a mere fraction of the total time i'll spend here('god willin' and the crick don't rise!). in this short span of time, i came to understand that we were friends, and also much more, or at least so it seemed at the time. there was always that language and cultural barrier, which also, i guess contributed to the ultimate deterioration of relations between us and consequent parting of ways.

i wish i could have told you, so that you'd understand and Know, that nothing i ever did was with the intention to hurt you in anyway. most of what i did was only done out of love and desperation, i guess. like the little child who had a bird that he treasured, and when it seemed about to fly away, he grabbed it in his hands, and trying to keep it, he squeezed the life from it and lost it anyway, thus tragically and ironically completing the tragic cycle of his own self-fulfilling prophecies.

it all fell apart, i guess, when i first confessed my feelings toward you and also my own weaknesses, foibles and particular phobia. all of that seemed to be greeted by you with the same outpourings of joy that the local village would reserve for the appearance of a pack of rabid dogs. from that point, at least to my mind, everything seemed to decline to the point where you held me in contempt for my weaknesses and loathing for my confessions of love.

i feel lost without your daily presence and re-assuring words of friendship. you made a very deep impression upon the pages of my life, and i see 'ghosts' of you everywhere - all the little things that remind me of you are like ghosts that remind me of what i've lost - sort of like the phantom pain that amputees are supposed to feel when they lose a limb.

the most ironic thing of all is, we've never met nor spoken.

most (including you, apparently) would think i was insane to have developed such a strong attachment to someone i'd never met. sort of like the tale told of an inmate of a lunatic asylum who was asked by a visitor to the institution how he came to be there. "well," he replied, "i thought the people outside were mad, and they thought I was mad. they were in the majority, and, here i am."

indeed. here i am.

the human mind has an amazing capacity to deceive itself. most call it 'hope.' it's a cliche, but also true, that it's only when you have no hope that you are totally free. for 21 days i lived on the hope that i was somehow mistaken, and fearful lest i repeat the mistakes of the recent past, i did little to communicate my despair. when i finally did attempt to communicate in some words my horror and despair and sense of utter loss, my attempts were feeble and unworthy of the deep and heavy turmoil of emotions that coursed through my heart and veins. sometimes, i find my mind so crowded with thoughts and fears that i am unable to put thoughts together in an even rudimentary intelligible fashion. (as anyone'll see if they stick around to these letters long enough!)

anyway, the pits of hell open up again tomorrow to swallow another week of my life in useless toil for some creatures of the leisure class, so they can spend their inherited wealth (which is nothing more than the accumulated unpaid labor of generations of men (and women!)), and my weary eyes are not only tearstained, but bloodshot too.

i ran across this little zen gem the other day, tried to send it to you and discovered that my hopes were indeed misplaced and your email address was no longer accepting my screeds.

Impermanence, aging, and illness
Do not give people a set time.
One may be alive in the morning,
Then dead at night,
Changing worlds in an instant.
We are like the spring frost,
Like the morning dew
Suddenly gone.
- Kuei-Shan (771-854)
